Event Description

Guided 2½ hour 2 km walk to several historic baches, led by back owner John Walsh featuring volcanic background of Rangitoto, looking at different types of lava, botany, Māori history, DOC’s pest eradication program and introduction of several bird species, early work of inmates from Auckland Prison, military history, and some of the “industries” that have been trialed on the island.
